A three-dimensional Josephson parametric amplifier

نویسندگان

چکیده

A Josephson parametric amplifier (JPA) is executed in a three-dimensional (3D) microwave cavity by coupling it to superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) that embedded two-dimensional resonator. The JPA activated three-wave mixing configuration injecting ac magnetic flux, at twice the 3D frequency, into SQUID. An 8.3 GHz measured non-degenerate phase-insensitive which yields gains excess of 40 dB, where 20 dB gain results an operational bandwidth 0.4 MHz, 1 compression point -115 dBm with half added noise.

Controlling the dynamic range of a Josephson parametric amplifier

*Correspondence: [email protected] Department of Physics, ETH Zürich, Zürich, 8093, Switzerland Abstract One of the central challenges in the development of parametric amplifiers is the control of the dynamic range relative to its gain and bandwidth, which typically limits quantum limited amplification to signals which contain only a few photons per inverse bandwidth. Here, we discuss the c...

A near-quantum-limited Josephson traveling-wave parametric amplifier.

Detecting single-photon level signals—carriers of both classical and quantum information—is particularly challenging for low-energy microwave frequency excitations. Here we introduce a superconducting amplifier based on a Josephson junction transmission line. Unlike current standing-wave parametric amplifiers, this traveling wave architecture robustly achieves high gain over a bandwidth of seve...

A low-noise series-array Josephson junction parametric amplifier

We have obtained parametric gain at 19 GHz from a distributed Josephson junction parametric amplifier whose active gain medium consists of a series array of 1000 Josephson junctions embedded in a coplanar waveguide. When cooled to 1.7 K the amplifier provides 16 dB gain in a mode where the internally generated double sideband noise referred to input is 0.560.1 K. This noise is consistent with N...
